The sculpture weighs around 1.25 kilograms or almost three pounds. The last few pictures show the size of these puzzles. It comes disassembled in six brass bat shapes that interlock perfectly. The solid bat contains a sprung steel ball to help the sculpture stay together. The notches in this item are the same as for our Brass Monkey one puzzle. Assembly is a little trickier as it requires some dexterity to put the pieces together. The end result is imposing. Each brass bat has been modelled to be dimensionally accurate and has been precision CNC milled under our control within the UK. Adults and older children will definitely love this item. A fun sculpture where the "look, but not touch" rule definitely needs to be waived. It's a perfect gift for puzzlers, baseball fans, and lovers of fine objects. Definitely a perfect gift for those who have everything. Heavy Hitter is a future heirloom. Although not limited we do not see ourselves making many more runs of these. But all is not as it seems this is a fine piece of mechanical engineering that really makes this bolt very, very special. To remove one nut turn it clockwise. To remove the other turn it anticlockwise. If you hold the two nuts and rotate the bolt they each move in different directions. Seemingly impossible as the bolt has the same thread along it's length. This is an impossible object, not a puzzle to solve, but one to ponder on how it was made.

Th Monkeys' Nuts! Is, of course, our take on Scott Eliott's Its' Nuts design originally 3D printed by Scott on his SD300 3D Printer. Our version is a very heavy solid brass bolt, the bolt and two nuts weight 1lb or 454g. The bolt is 74mm, the shaft around 22mm in diameter. We stumbled across a great hex design using 12 identical "AB" pieces. Brilliant on paper, or more accurately, on screen. But in real life? Not so much. Once assembled the whole thing just collapsed under its own weight into a disorganised orgy of pieces.

We tried joining a pair together. Still unstable. Tried a second pair. No better. So we joined all twelve pieces into six fixed pairs. This gave stability but was a little tricky to assemble. You may need at least a couple of fingers per piece.

It took us a while to get this puzzle right, as we experimented (on and off) with different ways to join the pieces. Each pair is joined with a pair of pins inserted into a pair of holes in two different directions. These boys ain't ever coming apart. The final result is a tricky little coordination motion burr puzzle.

Other joined-piece hex designs exist with the likes of Stewart Coffin, Bill Cutler and Ronald Kint-Bruynseels all having contributed to the genre.
