Making Love Easier
Do you love puzzles?
Do you know someone who loves puzzles?
Do you love puzzles with “Love” in the name?
Are you a sucker for heart-themed Valentine’s gifts?
If you answered yes, yes, yes and hell yes, then Making Love Easier is for you.
This is our first proper foray into an all-aluminium puzzle, and we’ve gone all in: six finely machined pieces, finished with a little vapour honing and anodising magic to give them that soft, silky, “can’t stop fiddling with it in your hands” feel. If we say so ourselves… it’s lovely.
The design began life as the brilliant six-piece burr Love’s Dozen by Bruce Love. It’s famous for reaching level 12 (the highest move count for a standard six-piece burr), and it also has 88 lower-move assemblies, which made it a fascinating design space to explore.
Steve performed a little heart surgery: tweaking and refining both the internals and externals until it became a level 12 six-piece burr with a unique solution, and a striking rhombic dodecahedral finished shape that looks every bit as good on the display shelf as it does in your hands.
And because a puzzle like this deserves to be shown off, we experimented with a few different display ideas before settling on the final stand — a bold little piece of 3D printed “love architecture” that turns your burr into a proper display piece. Once you’ve removed the five pieces from the stand, the sixth piece can be added — making your love whole again.
Finally: we didn’t name this one!
We reached out to our puzzling mate Allard, which is why the title is entirely wholesome and contains absolutely zero innuendo. None. At all. Obviously.
Launched January 2026 — buy it now and you’ll have it in time for Valentine’s Day.
